    I would have loved to see Orson Welles play a Bond villain.

    But then I remember he did play Le Chiffre opposite Peter Sellers in Casino Royale... :-S

    Real surprised that nobody has mentioned Laurence Olivier (I don't think), would of been outstanding in this capacity

    a sort of 'Dentist's Chair' torture for Bond with the right Bond and at the right time, would of been something to see. Pity now that he never got the opportunity to appear in a release, or maybe wasn't interested, but still a pity. Great actor..

    Yes!!! I've been saying for a while, if they ever wanted to bring back Blofeld, Eccleston would be the guy. Or he could make a great new villian. I heard something about him almost playing Renard in TWINE.


    Al Paccino could've been a great villian. Jean Claude Van Damme could have been a brilliant Red Grant type physical villian.

    Keith Moon would have been great.

    I wouldnt Mind Dafoe actually. He kinda looks like "jaws" facially. They could reboot that character with him. He wouldnt have the metal teeth, but he would kill girls in bed by biting them. It would be perfect for these new movies he could be sort of like De niro's "max cady" in The Cape Fear remake.

    I haven't finished it yet, but after starting 'Anonymous' and seeing other films of his lately, I think Rhys Ifans would play an excellent Bond villain. He's just so menacing. Was he not rumored to be in SF a long while back?

    I think Humphrey Bogart would have made a wonderfully menacing Bond villain if the films had been made earlier. Just think: Humphrey as the lead villain, the suave Cary Grant as Bond, and Bogie's future wife Lauren Bacall as a Vesper-esque Bond girl all in the same film! I get chills just teasing the notion of it.

    Cary Grant as Bond? Yes, please! That would have been a beauty to see. Have you seen 'To Catch A Thief'? Cary Grant was excellent as usual, and Grace Kelly...whew, what a beauty.

    Some very good picks (and some shockers obviously).

    Of the names mentioned Ecclestone is an interesting one as is Oldman. Would be interested to see Garys take on a villain now hes less manic. I doubt we would get the ham of Leon or Air Force One but something calmer which could be even more menacing. I have see him play a villain for a while now. I tend to think hes a bit wasted in the Batman films to be honest where hes just playing a sidekick.

    Daniel Day Lewis would be spectacular but I cant see him ever doing it. I dont envisage him considering it a sufficient challenge and I dont think he takes roles just for the money. Pacino and De Niro the same.

    Ben Kingsley another interesting one and I think if you waved a big enough cheque in front of him he would do it. Can certainly see him as Tamil Rahani in an adaptation of Gardners Nobody Lives Forever.

    A couple of names I havent seen are:

    Gerard Depardieu - Have you seen him in Mesrine? A proper bastard. He is just how I imagine the literary Le Chiffre to look.

    Jean Reno - Enough said.

    Karl Markovics - Check out the excellent German film The Counterfeiters. A really creepy looking guy.

    Mark Gatiss - In a few years and maybe not as the main villain but he does an excellent line in sneering superiority. Actually all of the guys from the League of Gentlemen are very good actors - Pemberton could do a job as well. Shearsmith looks a bit boyish to pull it off for my liking.


    And those who wouldve been good if the grim reaper had not caught up with them:

    Ian Richardson - Sadly no longer with us but Francis Urquart is one of the all time great screen villains.

    Yves Montand - around the time of Jean de Florette.

    Orson Welles - properly I mean.

    Karl Markovics was excellent in 'The Counterfeiters.' I randomly added that to my Netflix Queue years ago, and certainly didn't regret the rental.

    I've often thought of Kinski in a Bond film, he would have made a chilling Blofeld.

    i'd like to see a female villain... and not one that's like Elektra who is revealed to be the villian. One who's the bad guy/girl from the get-go.

    It's the great - actor I don't think I even recognize? Seriously, I can't put a name to the face

    Probably mentioned before, but names we could include would be Gary Oldman, Ray Liotta, Dougray Scott, Meat Loaf Aday, Jeremy Irons and even Gene Hackman is worth a mention. As for female villian, former WWE wrestler Chyna would of been ideal in that capacity, she's doing 'other' things now, but maybe for the Brosnan tenure, would of been a delight to have seen. She could of worked where Grace Jones failed

    Yes, i see Robert Downey Jr was listed here before. He'd make a great Bond villain, but maybe in the next Bond.

    idk if Dafoe would take a role, because he was at the EoN game.

    Just an actor I admired, and is fairly well recognized. Did himself no favors appearing in the awful 'Body of Evidence' with Madonna, I would of just erased such a thing from my acting resume, but has done some very good work apart from that. It's perfectly acceptable he could of been considered in years past for the part of a Bond villain, maybe in the Dalton years, or if not that, then maybe Brosnan. I think maybe now, the time has passed, but it would of been good to have seen him involved a few years back
