Technically correct phrase for MI6 mission
  • Hi, everyone. I'm new here, so please be kind. ;)

I am planning a Bond adventure for my husband, and I'd like your advice on something. Some background: This is the third time I've done this. Each time, I script a 007 assignment for him, hire a guy to be M, film him giving Bond the assignment, and then hire a sexy girl as a limo driver, have her commandeer my guy, put him in the backseat of a limo (where I am waiting, dressed as his accompanying double agent), and have the driver whisk him off from his office to the airport while she inserts the VCR of M into the limo player and launches the assignment. Everyone he encounters along the way addresses him as Commander Bond, properly prepares his martini, serves the correct Champagne, etc. You get the idea. Fun times, and a great way to keep a long-term marriage interesting.

This year, since VCRs are now rather antiquated, I am planning to put the mission on an iPod Touch instead, have it delivered to him, and have the courier launch the video file. I plan to engrave the iPod and would like your advice on the technically correct way to phrase this. I was thinking of a two-line inscription, with the first line reading
    To: 007 From: M
    and the second line reading
    Eyes Only

And that's my question. I know For Your Eyes Only is a film title, but am I correct in using Eyes Only in this context? I think that would be the way MI6 would type it on a confidential memo.

    Many thanks for your feedback!
  • Well firstly let me say you're quite a creative fun gal and sounds very interesting. Im guessing your hubby is a big bond fan.

In my opinion I wouldnt write For You're Eyes only, I would write, "Extremely Sensitive Information ". For your eyes only sounds alittle too cliched.

anybody else willing to help with woman out?

@purpleplume, I have to say, if this is your way of keeping a long-term marriage interesting, then congratulations to you two, because I'm sure you're going to have a longing, beautiful marriage with ideas like that.
  • You're the coolest wife ever!

In espionage lingo For Your Eyes Only is actually used, but it's up to you.
