My Bond knowledge actually paid off last night!!

I have an awesome story about how I pretty much saved the day....

Me and a bunch of friends went to our favorite Pub last night and we heard there was a trivia contest on the top floor starting at 9 and we figured, 'eh, we'll check it out later'
We finally did go up there around 9:45 (you could come and go as you please- it was a free contest) We were in a group of 5 and there were about 30 groups in all- we did a few waves of questions- it was a bit like Jeopardy in a sense that some categories were right up our alley and some were way over our head (ie, anything about Politics, or the like- NO GOOD!)

So anyway we're doing all right considering how late we arrived- and the waitress passed out these little sheets of paper, telling us it was for the final round. On the paper was a list of all the Bond movies- i felt an instant wave of confidence! It was like- 'oh my god, WHATEVER this question is, I've got this!', you know? I'm the only Bond fan in the group, BTW

So the final round comes- there were ten spaces-what they did was play 10 different Bond theme songs and we had to name what movie the song was from (!) and name the singer! :O

Being the only hardcore Bond fan in that joint, needless to say I OWNED that round!

It was enough to earn us second place! And this was against a group that was the whole time! Obviously, we decided to come back next week ON TIME. We could have had our entire night for free!! #-O

  • I love these type of small things that happen throughout life, i have also encountered similar questions relating to bond.

Only three weeks ago, at school, my friend's class were watching Casino Royale (2006) and they got homework based on bond. And instantly my friend told me about his homework(Questions on the bond films) and i managed to answer them all correct :D - of course this led to many other friends wanting answers :')

The only situation I've had like that is in a restaurant, whilst dining, the table next to us were having a rather heated arguement over who got the role of Bond after Connery left. After ten minutes of noise I stepped in, told them George Lazenby, and I think everyone has a much more peaceful night.

Moments of using your Bond knowledge in the every day world is always a good thing - I think the series is picked upon so much due to it's long history which no one thinks anyone will know all of.

I'm so socially retarded that these situations never happen to me, though
people always seem to phone me up for Bond trivia answers , on three separate occasions I've had friends or family phone me up when their in the middle of a trivia quiz to ask me to list all the Bond actors, surprisingly every time it's been Timothy Dalton that they'd forgotten!

2nd place on a Bond quiz ? tut tut Dahark, you should have thrashed them all..what did you get wrong ?
  • On the other side of that, you've got the situation where the quiz answers are incorrect- and ensuing argument you are then obliged to have with the Quiz Master!!!!

These are some of the ones I've had (exactly as they were asked):

'What was the first adventure of Ian Fleming's famous Secret Agent?' "Answer: Dr. No" - Yes movie adventure- but that wasn't the question- was in a general knowledge round.

'Who was the first actor to play the role of James Bond?' "Answer: Connery" EON-yes.. Bond Full stop- No......

Oh no no no, only the final question was Bond related- and I got em all right! It was enough to get us second place in the entire contest after arriving late! Nobody else in that place got half of the Bond question right, lol

Well they played some easy recent ones (they figured not everyone was a Bond fan): Both of Craig's, all four of Brosnans (not in any order), TLD, LALD, AVTAK and TB. You know-- song's any of US could do without hesitation!

I'm not surprised We Have All The Time In The World, Moonraker or All Time High were not chosen. Most people, or perhaps anyone wouldn't have had a clue!
