I think Cavill's chances to play Bond would diminish before he wear superman suit. the two film before it would make his name more popular than before, and make him an established actor. EON won't choose an established actor.

EON current management and directions also not in favor for pretty boy actors like Cavill.
  • HC could do TB in an unofficial movie if he doesn't get the gig - now that would be good.

After watching Cavill's work in The Tudors, I'd say he could take over after Craig.
  • I'm not sure that he is Barbara's type of Bond. Barbara wanted Sean Bean and then chose Daniel Craig. Henry is tall, dark and handsome, whereas Barbara prefers the more craggy blond types for Bond - and she gets to choose. As chuck007 said Barbara does not like the so called "pretty boy (i.e good looking!)" actors.

Cavill would have been a great rookie as Fleming's Bond was in his mid 20's when he got his 00 status. He would be even more perfect now as he is a grown up just in case anyone had not noticed!

    Time will tell.
  • Daniel Craig wont be handing over his holster any time soon. Who knows what will become of Cavill in the intervening years, or indeed, any other hopeful who we've never even heard of as yet.

Maybe, but she had the choice of PB, and he fits the tall, dark, handsome mold.

If I remember rightly, Cavill was 22 in 2006. I think he really should be around Craig's age before he starts. After all, if Dalton was originally approached for LALD (or was it OHMSS?) he still had to wait 14 years - which is what Cavill should have to do.

They chose Brosnan to please MGM head John Calley, Barbara wanted Sean Bean.

Sean Bean that was a close call phew - Babs you need your eye's testing. DC has pulled it off because he is a first rate actor - so you were lucky Babs. HC is still learning his craft and will be a seasoned silver screen god by the time DC hangs up his special weapon (that one was for you Babs). Two more films for DC so 2016 for HC? (That's if he's still wanted, which I hope he will be).

    Oh soooooooooo BOND HERE.
  • Cavill would be a fine choice after Craig steps down. It won't be for another 4-5 years anyways.

Henry Cavill would have made an excellent 007 in CR but Eon in its madness, chose the older shorter blonder Craig instead. Insanity.
Alas by the time the role is available again, the eminently qualified Cavill will be too old.
It's Craig's job for now and he's welcome to it until until he turns 53, which I'm suggesting as mandatory screen Bond retirement age, ie early 50's or thereabouts.
New Bonds though should be hired no older than 32. No exceptions at all. A mature 28 would be ideal hiring age in order to max out number of films in actor's prime Bond years.

Henry Cavill would make a really good James Bond. He's at the right age now. But with WB locking him for the MOS & JL trilogy, I'm not sure if he would be available. But again, Henry Cavill as James Bond would be really cool.

i doubt that, Cavill acting skill in THe cold light of day made bold statement that EON made a good decision by casting Craig back then in 2005. I can't imagine Cavill would be fit CR except if the script tailored made to fit Cavill's charm. His acting only slightly better than Brosnan. after saw his performance in THe cold light of day, the way he react or counter-react in any scenes I don't think Cavill can manage a good solid script like Craig did in Casino Royale.
