5 Bond Films For Craig

Have been sitting on this for a while, but here it is in the open now...

Daniel Craig will play James Bond in at least five films in the EON Productions series, MI6 can confirm. He has already completed shooting on his third outing, "Skyfall", which will open nationwide in the UK on October 26th. His remaining contracted fourth and fifth films will be the 24th and 25th movies in the official series respectively.

    Told ya :P I said he'd do 4 or 5 max when everyone was saying he'd do 8 and go into his 50s.

    Then let's hope Skyfall is a winner! I love Casino Royale and really liked QoS (yes, I am one of those ;-)
    Imo Craig is fantastic as Bond and to have the offical possibility of him doing 5 is great news to me!

    I sure Skyfall is going to be sensational and another huge hit.

    Now I wonder if Sam Mendes will return for Bond 24 too? Bet there's a fair chance he will, or perhaps he'll take a breather and come back for Bond 25 and send Craig out in style.

    Judging by the PC, he seemed not unwilling IF the production went smoothly, which obviously, from what we know, it did and there is a good chance, he enoyed the experience.

    5 movies in total sounds awesome! SF will be his classic defining role and 2 movies at least after that sounds reasonable to really cement his classic interpretation.

    I'd rather see Luke Evans take on the role after Craig but that's for another thread. I'm feverishly delighted Craig will do at least 5 Bond films in total. Here's hoping EoN don't mess things up with directors and the scripts. If SF is at least as good as CR, pay Mendes what he wants to make sure he returns or get a director who knows their Bond like Mendes seems to.

    if you add in the voice work for the upcoming 007 legends(5 stories he has re voiced, skyfall film will count as both game and film) bloodstone and goldeneye Wiiloaded. he has already been in 10 separate full bond stories.

    It's nice to have some (presumed) stability in the series after what happened in the last little while...but I use the word presumed on purpose.

    First of all, never underestimate a studio's ability - or the ability of its shareholders - to mess up the financials and end up in bankruptcy which delays productions. Hopefully MGM has gotten rid of a lot of the elements that got it into trouble previously.

    Secondly, the public can be a little fickle. One of the best articles I ever read about movie-making talked about how quickly the public's taste changes. As the key demographic (16 to 25 year old males) changes the new, younger guys want something different than what came before. They have to dislike what came before to reinforce how they have something that is their "own". Spielberg said that a true movie star is someone who remains popular for longer than ten years. Being a bit older (I'm Craig's age) I've seen action stars, comedians, and dramatic actors change over very quickly. Interesting how someone can be so hugely popular and then just a couple of years later they are not. So if any actor stays in the role too long they can overstay their welcome.

    Having said that I think this is fantastic news. Because Craig is very much a man's man he's an actor that appeals to both men and women (although they will always be a few insecure boys that are threatened by how much women find him attractive). He's also respected by the critics and seems to genuinely care about putting out good product. He doesn't seem the type to let his ego make the wrong decision like pricing himself out of the series or putting in half-assed work because he can coast on previous successes. I was hoping to get at least 4 Bond films with him so I'm extremely happy to read that 5 is the plan.

    Five is a damn good number for any actor. I am happy to hear this. I was a bit worried SkyFall would be his last after all those rumors about how they 'want him to end at his peak'

    They better damn well make his 5th movie a great one, not another 'DAF' or 'AVTAK'

    Here's a thought: if this is true, won't this be the first time in Bond history where we actually know ahead of time how many movies the actor has left? I wonder how this will pan out....

    Well, we knew Sean Connery had only one left when he signed on for DAF, but I guess that was a weird situation.
    And by "we", I mean the Bond fans of the 70's.

    I only lived through the Brosnan age (and as such, had no clue DAD would be his last at the time) but I'm under the impression that at the very least, Dalton and Moore were expected to return.

    Moore announced that he was done after AVTAK came out, right? Not before, like Lazenby did?

    His Bond arc story must start from this film to conclude it for DC in the next two films.

    I reckon it'll be about tying up loose threads from CR, and Skyfall will introduce these themes.

    I am delighted to hear the announcement with Craig staying on-board for two more Bond films. He is simply terrific in the role! If EON does right with the production timeline (e.g. lull between movies), script, direction and casting, I am a-okay with Craig remaining in the role as long as they do not repeat the mistakes they made with Moore and Brosnan - I believe both were too old by the time they concluded. Craig is currently 44. At this pace, he would likely make his last two at 47 and 50. If Tom Cruise can pull it off in MI:3, Craig should do just fine.
