Skyfall midnight premiere meetup, BFI London IMAX
  • I am currently living in England and I will still live here at the end of October, when Skyfall is released in the country and I've thought it would be great to watch the movie with other fans. Is anyone living in the UK interested in watching Skyfall with fellow MI6 Community members at midnight 25th October, at the biggest screen in Britain?

BFI IMAX hasn't announced a midnight screening yet for Skyfall, but I think it's safe to say there will be one.

Count me in...if anyone cares to house me during my visit, haha. Visiting the UK for the first time, along with a new Bond film at a midnight premiere at the biggest IMAX screen in Britain with like-minded fans? I would kill to attend.

Hope you don't mind me stealing it from you Creasy :D
  • Looks like we've got a second generation of Bond Campers.

I've just booked a room in a hostel near LS on the Thursday night so I can head down early and quickly on Friday - that's how dedicated I am :D

This probably isn't the right thread for my question, but it's quite related to it.

When do you think the Official (Royal?) Premiere of SKYFALL will be announced? And when do you think it'll be held?
I'm hoping to go to London and attend the premiere, try to get some autographs and see the stars up close. But it depends on the date, I might not be able to leave here.

It will likely be held at the Odeon Leicester Square in London. The date for the last two films was the Tuesday of the week of release, so if this pattern continues, 23rd October would be the date.

This is all guess work mind, but hopefully right.

Thanks, @Samuel001. I hope you're right, it looks like I'll be free those days.

When do they usually announce the premiere? Early September?

Casino Royale's was announced in July with Quantum Of Solace's in August but next month sounds like a safe bet, if not it will be October. Not much choice left! ;)

They're late then, aren't they? They're late for the title singer announcement too. I wonder why.

The MI6 members could generously save some money to buy a flight ticket (Brazil - London) and invite Marketto to the Premiere party. C'mon guys, only £ 900 to realize the dream of a huge Bond fan. :D

    Does the premiere gets televised?

They are not so much late, it's more that there has never been a set time when an announcement must be made by, so why announce things early? Closer to the release of the film will only generate further hype. That's the thinking going on I reckon.

Segments of it will be shown, mainly interviews with the cast on various channels, yes and there may even be a live stream.

No it will be earlier than that.
  • I think there's an imax prem in Brum. I'll check for anyone who can't make it to the big smoke.
  • Does anyone know when imax tickets generally become available, and are they bookable online? I plan to fly in my friend who is turning 40 for a weekend in London and to watch Skyfall on the 26th. Any idea on where or how to get tickets?

I don't want to commit to anything until I know the exact details. Will there be a midnight showing? Where is it being held? And If this is happening, I think we should all wear dinner suits.

Online. BFI IMAX box office. My guess would be last week of September. I booked TDKR tickets at 3am, the BO opened at Midnight on a Sunday/Monday. There was so much demand that the servers crashed. I ended up getting tickets for the 2nd night even though I booked almost as soon as was humanly possible. I don't see the same happening with Skyfall but you can be sure if there is a midnight showing you'll have to be very lucky to get tickets.

    {edit}

Odeon lists 25/10/12 as advance screenings. Most likely midnight.

Personally, I would love to see it at the IMAX but the Odeon Leicester Square is just as good. I always intended to see TDKR in IMAX first given the fact a lot was shot in IMAX. With Skyfall I feel differently. If I struggle to get tickets I'll just go see it elsewhere and hit the IMAX at a later date.
  • Perfect, thanks for the response. Not looking for a midnight screening, but a screening on the evening on the 26th. Hopefully I will be able to get a hold of something!
  • I'm in! I'm headed over from the US just for that... see it before it comes out here! Any official midnight screening yet?
  • Tickets are on sale at BFI Imax but no sign of midnight premiere as of now:
