    Pretty simple really. Very much the same theme as the Beaulieu Bond In Motion thread. Feel free to post your thoughts about the exhibit, and also to post photo's of your trip too. Especially for those fans who will be unable to make it.

    I myself am going on the saturday of the opening weekend just after lunchtime. Me and my girlfriend both looking forward to it as we are gonna make a day of it in London.

    :)) No problem, i will be the man with the black attache case being followed by a much nicer Rosa Klebb! ;) Have a great day there too! With a bit of luck? Over the weekend there will hopefully be some former cast members there too? Going to make sure i have a camera on hand without a doubt!

    Went yesterday and had a great day out in London. The exhibition was not set out how i imagined? But was very good and entertaining all the same. The only downside was no photgraphs allowed at all, except when you came out of area 1 to walk over to area 2.

    This means if you really want visual memories of the day you need to part with £30.00 for the exhibition book. Which i did as i will never see them up close again. My own personal favourite parts were without doubt the Gold room and the Casino room. Absolutely fantastic!

    Definately worth a visit in my view! :-bd

    I'm afraid so, they had staff everywhere and i mean everywhere! It really is in my view pretty pathetic you are not allowed atleast the odd photo with some genuine cinema history.

    What is really annoying too is all the promo pics of people at the private viewing with people taking pictures?!!!

    Yeah, which is why I was shocked because as you said we've seen pics of people taking pictures. I was planning on going today but now I think I'll leave it for another time.

    I'm going today and was at least hoping to take a snap of my Vodka Martini at the bar.

    I'm hoping that the staff will become less vigilant as the show goes on. I figure that they'll be super-strict in the beginning and then less so over time...at least I hope!

    The bar area as far as i am aware is fine for pictures, and you can get a picture with the Connery figure and Aston Martin DB5. As thats there as you enter the Barbican. It's the £ main exhibit rooms where you are not allowed to take pictures.

    Although it is disappointing? You should still go as you do get right up close to some serious Bond history. Don't let whole photo issue put you off, as you would miss out on a really good exhibit.

    Was the Vesper a real Vesper or just an approximation of one? After CR came out a couple of bars I went to offered "Vespers" but they were nothing like the real thing...the only way to get an authentic one (so far) has been to make them myself at home...

    What is wrong with these people, :( What is the problem with taking photo's ? I think we should have a challenge. Anyone who can sneak a photo out of the exhibition and post for the rest of us to see. I am due to go next month and I will see what I can do. ;)

    For the actual props, flash photography can damage the items - fading over time (especially the older ones). There's also "dilution of brand" - if everyone can see all these photos then the exhibit feels less special and loses the "you've got to see what they have!" vibe.

    I can understand the first point, although I don't necessarily agree with the second (although friends of mine in advertising do).

    They use the same excuse in museums all over Europe and the US: that the flash will "damage" the artwork. Unfortunately, it's been proven over and over again that that is simply not the case. Although exposure to light flashes can damage certain art and exhibits, the amount of flash nessesary to do any kind of damage would have to be massive - well beyond the museum-going public's ability. They're just trying to coerce you to buy the book from the giftshop.

    The thing is you could also apply that to spoilers when it comes to Skyfall.? Even though you know certain things? You will still go as you know you will regret it if you don,t? And although you see things in a picture, you do not see the amazing detail and also the written information that goes with it.

    I was very tempted to point out that too? But figured i would just dig a big hole for myself so just carried on.

    Visited yesterday, 7/14. Quite the turnout. Overall worth the money. Lots of stuff. Wished there was more, but Bond always leaves you feeling that way. Impressions? Didn't spend any time looking at the huge blowup stills or film clips, since I practically know the films by heart. But you certainly come away with an appreciation for Ken Adams vision and meticulous designs. Lots of props to see, but all the Connery Bond stuff interested me most--it's an age thing.

    Highlights? Come in the front door and there's Connery leaning against the Aston in the Swiss Alps. A gold painted Jill Masterton on the bed is galvanizing. Of all the mens clothing, the piece that resonated most for me was Dr. No's jacket. Two dresses stand out: the casino dress Diana Rigg wore and the dark blue dress Barbara Bach wore.

    What you come away with is the astounding amount of time and detail that goes into every aspect of a Bond film. Yes, we all knew that, but seeing it reinforces that notion.

    Apparently this exhibit will be going on tour and more will be added.
