    What are our thoughts?
    Do people find it a bit too glossy compared to previous Bond films?

    IMO it's very good... but in some scenes it's bad.... like in the car chase... it's too over-saturated.

    I like it very much. The two types of black and white at the beginning of the film, one grainier than the other, are splendid IMO. They mark out two flashbacks, differently positioned in time. I love the sunnier, more colourful Nassau (and the wonderful "by night" effects at Miami International), as well as the cosier, yet darker atmosphere near the casino later on. Also, the rusty, filthy boat effectively reflects the torture Bond is to endure.

    The camera work is great IMO. The film excels in one department that I'm very sensitive to: holding a shot. A good cameraman demonstrates his skills by holding a shot several seconds and making it work. Anyone can produce single second shots, which are then pasted together in a confusing sequence. By capturing the moment, lingering on a moment, the film pulls me in, makes me part of the experience rather than catapult me from one angle to the next to the next to the next... the latter being the best way to tell me I'm not invited to become one with the scene.

    CR also allows us to breathe. There are moments in the film which uneducated filmgoers with short attention spans and too much caffeine in their veins would describe as 'boring'. I love such moments. I'm given some time to pause, absorb the scenery, live great character moments, inhale tension, romance, anxiety, anything the film communicates. It's not about putting at least one big explosion and three fist fights in every 10 minutes of the film. It's not about jumping from location to location to location at warp speed. The film tells me a story and takes the time to do so. And I'm allowed to be there when the cool stuff happens. QoS, by comparison, feels like it's mostly told as one quick montage. I've seen the pictures you took, but I wasn't around when you had all the fun.

    The cinematography and film-making during the texas hold'em game is outstanding. Some pretty bold moves made - like the many close-ups of Bond's and Le Chiffre's eyes... not a lot of action movies put emphasis on such shots.

    My favourite Bond film. I just love it. It's different then the other bond films but has those certain qualities.The cinematography of the film is briliant. Like @DC007 said, the texas hold'em game, in that aspect, is amazing. I just love every part of it.

    Outstanding cinematography that suited the story. It just looks awesome. A great film on Blu-ray - and I also think the titles are the best ever (unlike QoS which are possibly the worst - though AVTAK's are pretty embarrassing!).

    I think it's awesome, it really set a standard for future spy thrillers (and bond movies). It's very dynamic and colorful. Great movement. Essentially every shot during the free run chase has movement. Takes a lot of planning.

    I missed this...was too busy focusing on Vesper's dress line ;)

    I agree that it's very glossy. But I think it works in its favor. That sheen it has certainly elevates the style of it and makes it feel like it's just one step outside the real world. But I think that's a positive, it adds to the elegance. And it suits the material. QoS for example did the opposite and I feel that's one of the reasons it suffered.

    I had the same problem too :D

    The cinematography is just fantastic in CR, no question. Particularly awesome on the big screen although it is still great even on my 46" flat. I've already booked our stay at the Ocean Beach Club 2 years from now and will be in my glory seeing all the Bahamas locales from this and especially from Thunderball.
