I know, I did that thread. I thought an actual product shot deserved it's own thread :)

    'Theyve rebadged it you fool'

Amazing Corgi - good to see youre really pushing the boat out for the 50th anniversary.

Another reissue of the same DB5 cast theyve been using ever since I was a kid. Theres been the GF 30th in gold, a GE one, a TND one, a CR one and now this. All the same model in a different box.

God forbid we see any originality in the 50th merchandise.

Not sure what else they could do with it, since it's the same car as CR. Maybe a box set with the DB5 and the Land Rover, and a History of Bond/Corgi book attached. Corgi, are you listening?

Even thats underwhelming - a Land Rover?

Like your book idea. How about a nice box set of a model for each Bond actor plus a glossy book detailing 50 years of Bond and Corgi (even though that relationship is only 48 to be fair).
Each car would come in a 50th box with reversible 50th/background from the film packaging. Also included would be a figure of Bond, the girl, villain and henchman.
    So we would get -

DB5 with an Alps (maybe Fort Knox seeing as Piz Gloria below is a bit too similar)backdrop and Sean, Pussy, Goldfinger and Oddjob.

DBS with Piz Gloria backdrop and George, Tracy, Blofeld and Bunt.

Lotus - with an Atlantis backdrop and Rog, Anya, Stromberg and Jaws.

Volante - Another snowy backdrop not good but has to be for the skis. Maybe change Piz Gloria to the mountain in Portugal at the end? Figures of Tim, Kara, Koskov and Necros.

Vanquish - An ice hotel backdrop? Does anyone detect a theme emerging here? Figures of Pierce, Jinx (alas) Graves and Zao. Could go BMW for Pierce and have a Hamburg backdrop with Wai Lin, Carver and Stamper but I prefer to keep it a collection of Astons with just the Lotus as the exception.

DBS - A backdrop outside Casino Royale and Dan, Vesper, Le Chiffre and Mr White.

All these models already exist so its just a case of some decent new packaging and the figures which would keep costs down for Corgi.
Ideally I'd like one from each film but thats unlikley to happen and the resulting box set would cost about £200. This one could be made for a nice round £50 I reckon. A cracking stocking filler.

Also how about re-releasing the OP horsebox set which was only available at the time as far as I know. Alas mine is out of the box and played with and I have lost the horses arse so would be nice to get a brand spanking new one.

Maybe a small diecast DC figure in a seperate box window, like they did back with the small Drax/Connery/Oddjob figures.

I think anyone could do that job. Basically put the old DB5 model that dates from 60s in a box with '50th anniversary' written on in crayon. Job done.

Scalextric are taking the same approach. Take the DB5 from years ago and a Range Rover and put it in a box with '50th anniversary' scrawled on in biro. Job done.

And theres the blurays. Take the same discs that have been around for years and put them in a box with '50th anniversary' etched on the box using the fans blood and tears for ink.

Does anyone get the impression we are having the piss ripped out of us by EON? Maybe SF will just be 2 hours of the words '50th Anniversary' projected onto a screen and the sound of Babs and MGW laughing as they count their money.

Any chance we get one original product apart from f*cking SF for the 50th? Just one? Before I am forced to follow EONs head of marketing on the way home and bludgeon them to death with a f**king Corgi DB5.

Good to see they do not take any notice of the fan base on sites like this

Maybe it would of been a good idea to have a poll by EON to see what we wanted more than anything else and the one thing that came top they could of licensed someone to make it. As a big thankyou to the fan base that has helped the franchise keep going over the years.

EON would do well to look @ sites such as this one. They're the ones marketing it..but we're the ones they are marketing TO. As of now, if I can, I'll buy the Corgi and leave it in the box, the ON THE SET book, and the CD soundtrack. C'est fini. 007 soundtracks are the only discs I purchase--everything else is iTunes only.

I'll get the box set of blurays only because they havent released half of them. I'll probably get the Legends game but not till after xmas. Not paying full price for a cheap cash in game.

In fifteen years George Lucas will put EON to shame.

Not bad and it's something I suppose. The first of many from Corgi, I hope.

Is that it? Cannot see Corgi getting my hard earned cash! Will wait for Sideshow to dish out some new figures!

    yup-that's it. Update:
CC04310 James Bond 'SKYFALL' Car is due for release in July. What with the car being so iconic within the Bond franchise and featuring in the new film this will be the only Bond model released by Corgi this year for the time being.

    My response to those dopes.
"SO disappointing. You could have really taken advantage of this. A 50 year anniversary comes...once. A nice box set with at least the DB5 and the other featured vehicle, the Range Rover, maybe a diecast figure like you've done in the past to go with it, a book with the history of Corgi and Bond, a few new models never before done. You're simply taken the safe and economical way out. Really sad to hear."

Fair point, bg. Let us know the reply you get. Maybe in ten years time Corgi will give us something better? One can only hope.

has this hit the market yet? I thought I had read early August
  • I got this one about a week ago... The details on the car seems much more defined than on the previous DB5 models that they have done. Its also the Skyfall car, so it isn't really the same.. Same same, but different as they say ;-) And its totally different from the DB5 they did for Casino Royale which had a different molding on the bumpers for the different number plate and that one was left hand drive while this one from Skyfall is right hand drive.

The first time it's been made as a right hand drive? Uh.....what?
  • [quote="=bg="]The first time it's been made as a right hand drive? Uh.....what?

Yeah. Apparently so. They probably forgot that the Connery ones they did were actually right hand drive as well..hahaha.. Maybe what they meant was the "no gadget" DB5, being this one and the one from Casino Royale, first time in right hand drive.. Hahaha.. I don't know..
  • And it's missing the gadgets... I really expected more from Corgi, but then again the last decent thing they did is the Director's Cut series...

    And it's missing the gadgets

So it doesn't eject a little M figurine? Highly disappointed.

I don't buy much Bond merchandise, but I think I'll have to invest in this one as it's a special occasion ;)
  • Are they taking the piss or are my eyes deceiving me? Are they seriously saying that number plates, wipers and which side of the car the wheel is on are features so worthy of note you should emblazon them across the box with pride?

They havent even got the machine guns which are used in the film. Utter disgrace of a collectors item. EON should take the licence off them. 50th anniversary and this is all they can come up with to cash in? Joke of a company - no wonder the country is in recession if business like this are anything to go by.

    Corgi IS a joke.
But they're the only joke we've got.
  • You never know, they might just come up with a different model of the DB5 in this scale but with the gimmicks seen in the movie. Anything is possible if they want to milk the 007 fans..

Anyway, I finally got around to opening it up, so here are some more photos I took of the car as well as some comparison shots between the CR DB5 and the SF DB5....
