I don't see this as a big deal really? He has veered off in different drinks directions before. If i recall correctly there is a cocktail bar included in the pool scene? I'm sure he will have atleast one!

That's not the thing; we know he will have a vodka martini, but people totally misconstrued the information and surmised all Bond will drink from here on out is beer.

It wasn’t so long ago that MGM/Bond were dead in the water, and but for the bail out and the despicable sponsors there would be no filming of Skyfall and possibly an even longer hiatus or no Bond at all, but I suppose for some that would be preferable to seeing Bond drinking beer.

That's all fine and dandy, they have to take what they can get, but not at the expense of the character. You wouldn't want to see Bond driving a Hyundai while stopping in to McDonalds for Big Mac would you? Even though the golden arches could certainly drop some serious financing behing the Bond franchise.

No nothing so base as a KFC in Goldfinger or Driving a Citreon 2cv in For Your Eyes Only. You need to clean your rose tinted glasses.

That's different. Bond was never seen chowing down a bucket of extra crispy. I'll give you the Citroen, but it's all about how it's used--obviously not Bond's car of choice. As I've said, I have no problem with Heineken having a placement in the film, just as long as its used in a way that doesn't undermine the character of Bond. It would be great if the Heineken scene went like the Phu Yuck scene in TMWTGG, where Bond reacts to it with snobbish disdain.

Yeah, that's true and the media can cause confusion by making up exaggerated titles like: "Bond will be swapping a martini for a beer" or whatever it was.

I'm fine with Bond drinking a beer as he did it in the Fleming books (many people aren't familiar with the real James Bond) but I hope he has it in some less than elegant bar in the islands (as in the books) where the range of liquor they have available is limited.

What I would love to know is what it actually says in the contract? Must we see Bond actually order a Heineken, merely drink a Heineken or is it okay to have it just sitting in the background?

Didn't Bond drink a Heineken in QOS when he was with Leiter in that down and out bar? We didn't see him ask for a Heineken though which was good. If he asked for a less mainstream beer it would be perfectly fine with me but the fact that the brand name "Heineken" is on everyone's minds and has been built up so much might make myself and others cringe a little if we do actually hear him order it.

There's a scene in a bar in Skyfall, so that may well be when Bond orders the beer. In fact, I think there was a picture taken of Craig as Bond holding the beer bottle, if I'm not mistaken. You may be safe @Bounine.

It was in the fridges at the bar, and there's a scene on the beach of him holding a green bottled cold one.
