Fans React To Bond Drinking Beer!

Absolute nonsense. People are getting all their facts wrong. Where are they getting this? There has been no word that he won't have his Martini. This isn't the first time Heineken is sponsoring a Bond movie. It was Heineken in Casino Royale too and Bond did drink at least 3 glasses of Martini in that movie. Just because Heineken is sponsoring the movie, it doesn't mean Bond will not be having his usual Vodka Martini. Trust me, he will have his Martini in Skyfall.

    Snore!

Such a load of old rollocks, isn't it? I mean, of course he's likely to have a Martini in SF. And as for it being a big deal/ departure for Bond to drink beer (that's if he actually does in this movie) - he did in QOS, I seem to recall...
  • Look at the error here:
"Skyfall," set to release in early November, pits M agains 007 as her loyalty to him is tested. MI6 finds himself in a bind that only 007 can solve—but he may have to pay a hefty price to do so.
Bond loyalty to M is tested, and MI6 isn't a human being!!!

I love all the people that whimper over what drink Bond is having, even in one minute scene! He may still have a martini, so simmer down. It isn't even a big deal. Worry about how good the movie is, not what Bond is sipping for Christ's sake. And how about the woman that thinks it is departing from tradition that Dan has blonde hair while Sean and Roger had brown hair. They departed from tradition because the literary Bond has black hair, ont brunette. But I wouldn't expect some bimbo to know that. [-(

It was hard to read anything what with all the damn commercials flashing away

I don't see a major issue with this, so 007 has a beer at some stage in the next release, what's the big deal here, he may even have a trademark Martini at some stage too I would imagine. Some people will debate and argue over anything with too much time on their hands

Totally agree with you gents. It's a load of rubbish, but my God it was too 'good' to pass up posting on here! :))

I'd also like to hear a source as to where they heard Bond was not going to drink the vodka martini.....

No it's not rubbish, this is actually going to take place later this year in Skyfall

Bond will indulge in a Dutch Heineken Beer, I've read differing reports this night that say 'in place of a Vodka Martini' or 'simply on it's own at some stage in the film', but all said this really will happen, not that's it's really that big a shock or news story even

Craig will even feature globally in a commercial for the Amsterdam company to coincide with all this

Seems a bit inappropriate in place of the usual Vodka Martini especially for an event such as the 50th anniversary, but that's what they're going with, seriously

Y'know, people on here are going to bitch about this "sacrilege" on these forums, because people have no respect for throwing out tradition and trying to make it on your own.

Oh, I don't doubt the ad campaign is happening - I just think that the reaction is a bunch of garbage!

Again.. Casino Royale was also Heineken! Didn't we not see Bond gulp down some Martinis in that movie? I don't remember this debate when Heineken was announced to partner with Casino Royale... I was really surprised when people kept saying he won't be drinking Martinis in Skyfall.... Wow, how naive can some people be...

What abt Perrier in Goldeneye? Haha.. you guys know where I'm getting at..

Exactly! Sometimes it appears everyone just complains to complain. Just because he has one beer doesn't mean he can't have his damn martini! Sheesh. People act like the sky is falling or something. See what I did there?!

^^^ Haha.. Nice one with the sky is falling..haha..

The media is just giving out the news abt this Heineken deal in a wrong way and the public in particular the neutral followers who don't know much abt the legacy of Bond would take it the wrong way thinking "Oh no, he won't be drinking Martinis anymore"..

I doubt Barbara and Michael Wilson would allow such a thing such as not allowing Bond to drink martinis to happen.. Doing so would only kill the novelty of James Bond and thats the last thing Barbara and Michael wants...

It's not the first time Bond has had a beer. In QoS he drank beer and also, in one sitting, 6 martinis. Don't see why this news is such a big deal to people. Not even the first time Heineken has sponsored Bond.

in LTK wasn't he also going to have a Budweiser with a lime?....... i mean, really - people are really looking for things to complain about these days..

    "Good heavens, 007 is having a pint - O - M - G how could he?!?!?!?"

    :-S
  • haha yeah this is so funny how they tok bond to be drinking heinekin in one scene meaning that there wouldnt be a martini.
  • I really don't care if Bond drinks beer, most blokes do anyway so I really don't see what all the fuss is about. And just because he does it doesn't mean he won't also have a martini.

Really, who cares? A martini doesn't make the man, the man makes the martini. He's James Bond, he can drink what ever the hell he wants. All I care about is the movie being good and if we need a lack of martinies, for it to happen, then so be it.

Even if Bond starts drinking Red Bull, tomato juice or still water, he will be Bond. Okay, maybe not the Red Bull... ;-) Beer, however, is considered a part of sophisticated culture in most parts of the world. Hey, I'm from Belgium. Our beers are renowned (and incidentally so much better than Heineken ;-) ). Give Bond a pint!

Haha. I can see it now...

    (Bond walks into a pub)

    Bartender: "What'll ya have?"

Bond: "A pint. Delicious, not flat."

I'm sure there's a better one but that's all I could come up with.

If we want to get all pedantic about Bond drinking beer and it apparently not being right on the grounds of not being sophisticated/ not Fleming-esque enough for his character, well, I'm sure he drank beer back in at least one of the novels, didn't he? Could be mistaken, but I don't think I am.

But the big thing with this - the sub-text that the media's trying to bring to the fore - is that Bond's sold out to the corporate machine by going with Heineken. Please. Bond sold out to the 'corporate machine' years and years ago - most blantantly with all the oh-so obvious billboard advertising in the ambulance sequence in MR. Plus, Fleming was, of course, fond of dropping brand-names throughout his novels, which probably suggests he wouldn't be at all against such corporate name-placing etc in the Bond films of today. After all, Bond himself is a character that's all about preserving Western capital, so frankly what is the big deal here...? ;)

Perhaps Bond will drive a tank through a Heineken-lorry?

He drank beer before he get married in OHMSS. He was in Germany, Munich I believe. Bond went with his chauffeur (the taxi driver) to a bar.
  • Beer is awesome. So is James Bond. It's only natural that the two come together. Heineken is actually a really nice beer anyway.

So this is all a fuss about nothing then?

I was sure this was actually going to take place later this year, i.e Bond has a beer, have we been lead down the garden path with this. And Craig too, is doing a commercial maybe ?, I don't like being messed about with these things
  • People are STILL crying about it. Just because he has ONE BEER doesn't mean that he is going to lose his martini. Why does it even matter?? People need to look at the film for the story and how it is told, not at what Bond drinks or drives for crying out loud. :-q

I don't care if people are crying over it, or doing cartwheels in the street over it, I merely want to know if this rumor or whatever it is, has any substance to it, or it's merely a nothing story with no end product. It's simply, Bond Beer Yes or Bond Beer No

(I'm always cautious around this time of year)

They could have missed that due to all the frantic editing, or it slipped past due to the large amount of cr&p this movie already contained. :D

I still think its because of Daniel Craig people get all het up. If PB was pictured drinking a beer it would be like "Brosnan may have left his Vodka Martini days behind him but proves he still got "it" after being shown drinking beer earlier this week"
