    - Sound Design
    - Cinematography
    - Song

Also, with the calibre of the actors on board, possibly a few acting awards.

Yes I was considering ensemble cast or ensemble crew, considering the amount of Oscars floating between them. But like I said, award shows aren't very generous when it comes to Bond.

I was thinking more along the lines of the SAG Awards and BAFTA. You're quite right though. Bond is rarely taken seriously when it comes to the various awards ceremonies.

I can't help but feel that Skyfall isn't going to get a single nomination at the 2013 Academy Awards...I thought for sure that Casino Royale was going to get nominated for something back in '06 (Sound design, sound editing etc.) but alas, it was 'snubbed'. Although I would love to see Bardem get a nomination for supporting actor (if he is up to par of course...which I think is a no brainer at this point!)

    Best Screenplay

Just imagine the reaction on these forums if Purvis and Wade won an Academy award.... ;)

Either Purvis and Wade are deadly inconsistent or the script rewrites saved CR.
  • -Best Cinematography and Best Music

no way for best screenwriter because of P and W...but john Logan could but he isnt the main writer?

But I fear the major awards will given to The hobbits/The Dark Knight Rise...and Bond will GET nothing......

a very slight chance to Best picture but who knows if The King's Speech can win some big award as it is a British film......I don't see why Skyfall cant either......

Action movies rarely get nominated, but production design would be my guess.

I would like to think, if good enough, Skyfall could be nominated for:

    Best Cinematography
    Best Music
    Best Original Song

The ensemble cast and maybe the script will be something to shout about too...

Most of all Deakins deserves a win and for it to be for Bond would get two in one done at once.

I think if it's Adele and the song is good, that's the best chance.

    That Skyfall deserves Oscar nominations.

Except for cinematogrophy and song Bond is usually ignored at Oscar time. I don't ever expect to see a nomination for actor, actress, best supporting, or even director. Maybe I'm being cynical but call me a realist.

This is all pure fun and speculation. Oscars or not, Skyfall will be fantastic. Look how great FRWL and CR are, and they didn't win any Oscars.

I dont think it will take any awards, or even nominations. Bond isnt an award-franchise imo.

Far too early to predict anything, isn't it? Haven't seen a single frame, know next to nothing about the story, it could be fantastic or the other extreme, I have no idea. From experience I wouldn't bet on any nominations.

This is purely based on what you may feel the bes t parts of SKYFALL will be, based on the cast and crew.

Many feel best song or soundtrack due to the rumored Adele theme and Thomas Newman being attached.

    Stuff like that.
  • Much like comedies, big Bond blockbuster adventures aren't taken as seriously as the other "refined films" the academy honors. I've enjoyed some Bond movies better than the Best Picture, so I think it's a load of crap.

Bridesmaids is nominated for Best Picture, isn't it? The Academy, along with the other shows, have surprised me with their nominations, which is why I slightly suspect Bond may get a few glances next year.

After seeing some of the press photos, I'm definitely feeling Roger Deakins will get some nods.

If Bridesmaids was nominated for Best Picture I would've lost all faith in the Oscars, if there was even a speck to begin with.

That's my mistake. Confused the Golden Globes nominations, which are split up oddly.

    Oscars 2011:
    BEST PICTURE
    The Artist
    The Descendants
    Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close
    The Help
    Hugo
    Midnight in Paris
    Moneyball
    The Tree of Life
    War Horse

How on earth can we even discuss any of these right now?
The film hasn't even finished shooting. Predicting what awards 'Skyfall' might win is like predicting tonights lotto numbers.
I suggest this one be put on hiatus untill a later date.

It's just for fun, and I don't see any harm in any of it.

    Yes, for fun. I'll say:

    cinematography
    sound
    editing (I hope!)
    song (I hope!)
set design (what is that category called?)
best supporting actor (Bardem) - wouldn't that be great to a super, memorable, awards-worthy villain?
  • Maybe they'll do a 50 years of Bond tribute at the Oscars?
