Very happy about Fiona's victory. I myself dislike Jaws, but I guess I'll have to live with it. Very good line-up with good results.

    Event 21: '60s Bond Locations ~ Results

    1. image Piz Gloria, Grindewald, Murren-Schilthorn and Bern (OHMSS) = 94 points [10 points]

It's swish, it's swanky, it's swingingly brilliant and now it's official - Piz Gloria is tops with you lot when it comes to '60s Bond locations; yes, the coolest ever allergy research centre (and its accompanying Alpine locales from OHMSS) takes the gold with more than 90 percent of the maximum possible number of votes it could have accrued.

Runner-up, and surely deservedly so, in a complete opposite: water-sport glamour-magnet that is Nassau (and the Islands New Providence and Paradise) as featured in TB, while Tokyo, Kobe and those volcanic islands from YOLT take an undeniably worthy bronze, their mixture of modern neon cool and starkly beautiful scenery impossible to resist.

However, that age-old Bond location of choice Istanbul (here from FRWL) can count itself unlucky to finish only fourth, given it was only a single point off third; unlike DN's Jamaican (and, of course, Bond's very first) locations and GF's Swiss offerings, which comfortably take fifth and sixth respectively. And lying down - but looking good as they do so - in a respective seventh and eighth are OHMSS's Estoril and Lisbon and FRWL's Crinan and Loch Craignish.

So, in an unusual week when both England and the United States took time off from scoring any points and neither Italy or France featured at all, it was a chance for other nations to do the business. And, yep, The Bahamas, Turkey, Jamaica and Portugal did just that - it may be getting late in the tournament but that quartet haven't just been successful this week, they've also finally got themselves on the board. Congrats to 'em all.

Bigger felicitations, though, go to those groovy Japanese, as their land of the rising sun has risen considerably in the table thanks its bronze this week - its now sitting pretty alongside pugnacious Poland in twelfth place. Oh yes.

But undeniably the biggest riser - and easily the biggest winner - from the contest this week is the land of... the cowbell. Yup, thanks to the combined points scored from both a gold medal and a sixth place, Switzerland has gained another thirteen points for the board and zoomed right up to the dizzying heights of eighth place - that's right, eighth place. Break out the schnaps then, peeps, because it's going to be one hell of an après-ski tonight!

And Event 22 coming right up... :)

Well, it may be a little late in the day to do so, but I've decided to slip into the proceedings a previously unpublicised contest (which means they'll now be 27 not 26 events - for anyone who really cares enough to be following such things). ;)

Anyhoo, get ready, get set, chaps, for...

    image

    The competitors:

image Maurice Binder (DN, TB, YOLT, OHMSS, DAF, LALD, TMWTGG, TSWLM, MR, FYEO, OP, AVTAK, TLD, LTK)
    image Robert Brownjohn (FRWL, GF)
    image Richard Williams (CR '67)
    image Micheline Roquebrune (NSNA)
image Daniel Kleinman (GE, TND, TWINE, DAD, CR)
    image MK12 (QOS)

So, the task is simple... please arrange the six competitors above into your favoured ordering - first to last (greatest to least) in terms of their contribution to the cinematic James Bond.

Voting for this event should remain open for about a week, after which the results and the updated Medal Table will be posted in this thread (as well as in the thread's opening post).

Oh, and just a reminder - when you do vote, please vote in this manner, chaps (as outlined in the thread's opening post); makes it a hell of a lot easier for me when I'm totting up the totals... ;)

    4th place = 5 points

Yup, I was pulling for Istanbul over The Bahamas myself, but happy Piz Gloria and Tokyo etc ended up in the top three. So two out of three ain't bad, as Meatloaf once sang. ;)

To be fair, Richard 'Pink Panther' Williams' titles - along with the score and songs by Burt Bacharach - is the best thing about CR '67. The Berlin section halfway through's a winner, mind, and the production design's terrific too.

Anyhoo, come on, guys, a pretty easy vote this week - get 'em in...! :p

One of the worst things of QoS is the titles. Only thing worse is the noise they put over them. And that while I love that film!

Event 22: Title Designers ~ Results

    imageimageimage

    1. image Maurice Binder = 130 points [10 points]
    2. image Daniel Kleinman = 98 points [8 points]
    3. image Robert Brownjohn = 95 points [7 points]
    4. image Richard Williams = 52 points [5 points]
    5. image MK12 = 50 points [4 points]
    6. image Micheline Roquebrune = 37 points [3 points]

So, this event's impromptu, unannounced inclusion into proceedings has been entirely vindicated - yes, like the greatest of his fellow exulted Eon alumni, the oh-so great Maurice Binder now has that deserved gold medal around his neck. Elsewhere, the silver, surely rightly, goes to the modern Bond legend that is Danny Kleinman, his titles with their MTV-era twist on Binder's style being blinkin' brilliant, and very close behind with his bronze is the ad image genius that was Robert Brownjohn, rightly rewarded for his trend-setting titles for FRWL and GF.

The other (only) three places this contest go to Richard Williams in fourth, the man responsible for the awesome animated inserts in the Pink Panther flicks (here rewarded for his equally awesome work on CR '67); MK12 in fifth, the team who gave us QOS's title sequence, and, er, Connery's wife, who - rather randomly - designed NSNA's titles. Well, she is an artist. Apparently. Please don't punch me, Conners...! :p

Good work by the States this week then, given they claimed 26 of the 37 points on other; by contrast, England solidified their poor week on the football pitch by merely picking up a measly eight points here. ;)

But the big news? Yes, of course, it's in that battle for third in the Medals Table again, as Mrs Conners' three points for France's cause puts her homeland level on points and back into join third with the Italians again. Will those two nations ever be separated? Watch this space...

Event 23 coming right up, chaps - oh yes...! :)
