Admittedly not the sexiest of events this week, but one featuring (as ever) enormously important contributors to Bond film lore, for where would the flicks and everyone and everything they feature be without someone to film them? And, yup, it's a big, surely underrated legend of 007 lore who takes the gold - Ted Moore, the man who captured some of the most iconic scenes in all Bondom. No question.

Taking the silver is David Lean's favourite cinematographer, the great Freddie Young, who brought us those Japanese volcanic islands in all their luscious beauty, while the bronze is in the hands of OHMSS's Michael Reed, like Sir Rog a veteran of TV's The Saint and a critical component of Majesty's magisterial magic.

Elsewhere, the mid-Moore era is represented by France's Jean Tournier's lavish work for MR (fourth) and Claude Renoir - great-grand-nephew, if I remember correctly, of the painter of the same name - whose talents were applied to Spy (sixth), while the English Phil Meheux, (GE and CR - fifth), Alan Hume (FYEO, OP and AVTAK - seventh) and Alec Mills (LTK - eighth) fill out the rest of the places.

No prizes for spotting who made the most of this week's contest then. Yup, in collecting a grand total of 32 points (including their second gold-silver-bronze one-two-three of the tournament), the Three Lions are absolutely roaring once again. And they're seemingly roaring towards the 300-points barrier too. Who's to say they won't finish this thing with 10 gold medals either? Yup, just as I thought - no hands raised in affirmative answer to that question. ;)

And yet, they weren't the big winners this week (becoming a bit of a catchphrase of mine that, isn't it :p ). Nopes, despite my bigging up Italy's form last week, this time it's the French roosters who've strutted their way right back into contention. For just take a look at that... having claimed eight impressive points for the board here, the Frogs are now level on points with the Azurri. The race for third place is well and truly back on, peeps - oh yes...!

And Event 19 coming up soon, chaps...! :)

Time for some powuh, peeps - more powuhhh...! ;)

    image

    The competitors:

image Julian Glover (Aris Kristatos, FYEO)
image Robert Rietti ('Ernst Stavro Blofeld', FYEO)
image Louis Jourdan (Kamal Khan, OP)
image Steven Berkoff (General Orlov, OP)
image Klaus Maria Brandeur (Max Largo, NSNA)
image Max von Sydow (Ernst Stavro Blofeld, NSNA)
image Christopher Walken (Max Zorin, AVTAK)
image Jeroen Krabbé (General Koskov, TLD)
image Joe Don Baker (Brad Whitaker, TLD)
image Robert Davi (Franz Sanchez, LTK)

So, the task is simple... please arrange eight of the 10 competitors above into your favoured ordering - first to last (greatest to least) in terms of their contribution to the cinematic James Bond.

Voting for this event should remain open for about a week, after which the results and the updated Medal Table will be posted in this thread (as well as in the thread's opening post).

Oh, and just a reminder - when you do vote, please vote in this manner, chaps (as outlined in the thread's opening post); makes it a hell of a lot easier for me when I'm totting up the totals... ;)

    1st place (Gold) = 10 points
    2nd place (Silver) = 8 points
    3rd place (Bronze) = 7 points
    4th place = 5 points
    5th place = 4 points
    6th place = 3 points
    7th place = 2 points

Over to you, folks - get voting...! :)

    4. Glover
    5. Rietti
    6. Krabbe
    7. Baker
    8. Jourdan

    Two things-

    1. von Sydow is listed from OP, he is in NSNA.
    2. It's your poll, and you can choose who you want for it. And I did like Brandauer's performance quite a lot. HOWEVER, I feel the inclusion of a non-official remake gives people the impression that NSNA is an official Bond movie, and truly it is not and I won't vote for anyone from this, or the CR 1954 and 1967 movies. You can put lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig.

Apologies, guys. von Sydow's credit is now amended.

As to NSNA's inclusion in this tournament... well, its presence in some categories boosts the number of participants admittedly, but also methinks in parts it's just as good as many of the Bond flicks, if not better, in which case I see no reason why it shouldn't compete here. Yeah, I know, so shoot me... :p

Oh we won't shoot you St. George...for now. :D

I initially went with the not acknowledging NSNA argument, but then reversed it and decided to go with old Max Largo over a second Blofeld campy appearance.

Yup, I think you're all barmy - the clichéd-'80s-violent-action-flick-drugs-baron-villain that is Bob Davi's Franz Sanchez from the clichéd-'80s-violent-action-flick that is LTK has beaten the awesomely madcap, peroxide-haired, ebullient bundle of evil fun that is Chris Walken's Max Zorin from The 'Kill. And that means too that - surprisingly? - for only the second time this tournament it's a top-two lock out for the United States, as the two villains take the gold and silver respectively.

And in another tight race (and by a measly single point), Louis Jourdan's so-suave-he's-nearly-horizontal Kamal Khan edges out his comrade in arms from OP, Steven Berkoff's unlucky old General Orlov, to take the bronze. It's better news for both NSNA villains, though, as Klaus Maria Brandaeur's rather tacky Largo and Max von Sydow's stately Blofeld get into the points in seventh and eighth, while FYEO and TLD's main nasty-pieces-of-work, Julian Glover's Kristatos and Jeroen Krabbé's Koskov, sit just above them in the results finishing fifth and sixth respectively.

I don't know, they really can't stop, can they? Yes, both the top two nations, England and the United States, picked up a healthy number of points this week - nine for the former and an excellent 18 for the latter. In actual fact, though, the gold medal that gave the States 10 of those 18 points is only their second gold of the tournament. A little bit of a surprise that one perhaps?

Elsewhere, it's been a particularly good week for a trio of the 'lesser' nations in the mix. Germany picked up two points, ensuring they're now only one point off Wales in fifth on the board; Sweden gained a point, which means they're now sharing ninth place with neighbours Denmark; and the Netherlands' very welcome three points from this contest pulls them up to a most respectable twelfth alongside Brazil and Mexico.

But the nation that arguably benefitted most this week? That'd be the one that did the best business out of that pair competing like ankle-biting brothers fighting over a toy car for third place in the table. Yup, France's seven points sees them move, yes, seven points clear of Italy to strike out in third all on their own. Allons-y!

Event 20 coming right up, chaps...! :)

So, the task is simple... please arrange eight of the 22 competitors above into your favoured ordering - first to last (greatest to least) in terms of their contribution to the cinematic James Bond.

Voting for this event should remain open for about a week, after which the results and the updated Medal Table will be posted in this thread (as well as in the thread's opening post).

Oh, and just a reminder - when you do vote, please vote in this manner, chaps (as outlined in the thread's opening post); makes it a hell of a lot easier for me when I'm totting up the totals... ;)

    3rd place (Bronze) = 7 points

Just a small correction @St_George.... Benicio del Toro is actually Puerto Rican, he is not Mexican.
