Skyfall marketing: What would you like to see?

Here we can say any ideas we have that we'd like to see happening to help promote Skyfall. Anything at all. From how many trailers or posters we'd like and what they should contain, to how the film's website should look like and what features it should have. But most importantly, new and original ideas.

I'll give it a start:

- I don't care how many trailers we'll get (it'll probably be one teaser and one theatrical as usual), but there are a couple of things I'd like to see in them. For example, I want a new version of the Bond theme and not the much overused CR trailer version. Secondly, I'd love to hear the announcer say "Daniel Craig IS James Bond 007 in... Skyfall". We haven't heard that in ages. Especially in Craig's films, the announcer was heard only in a couple of TV Spots saying only the film's title. (ok, some CR spots had more, but not the wanted line).
- Same goes about the posters. I don't care how many, but I'd love to see some posters in the style of the '60s posters.
- Smartphone app(s) that do spy stuff, like the fingerprint scanner or the item locator that was available via Sony's website around QOS' release. Just because they're fun. With modern technology they can do much better and more fun apps than the 2008 ones.

The best promotion would be that Bond23 would actually be the good movie they claim it to be. (unlike the previous attempt which now gets disowned even by DC)

Could EON get the 6 Bond actors to film small 3 or 5 minutes messages... thank the fans, give their favorite Bond film and/or favorite scene, a moment they treasure during filming... And alternate messages between showings. Like one day you'd see Connery's message to the fans, and if you go see Skyfall a 2nd time, you'd see Dalton's message, or Moore's, or Brosnan's...

I'd also like to see kick-ass trailers featuring moments of the 22 films, shown in cinemas during the next months waiting for Skyfall...

That'd be a great idea, except I doubt Connery would do it. The poor man almost sounds worse than one of those voice boxes extreme smokers have to use.

It was used for a Casino Royale TV Spot but using 'Nobody Does It Better' as well as the normal 'Bond Is Back' may add something.

I'm not sure if the anniversary is an essential point to be mentioned in the marketing or not.

The first poster we've had, show's we're off to a good start.

A David Arnold voodoo-doll will probably be a hit amongst many readers here!

Other than that, lots of downloadable lobbycards in high-res, thanks!

My god please put out a new Bond theme. It was used for CR, QoS, not to mention all of the Activision Bond games...

Newman will do his composition of the theme, I think that's a given. Let's hope it's good.

He definitely will, but I doubt it will be in any of the trailers.

Why not? Arnold's, or for that matter, the newest version of the theme usually is. That's how we heard Arnold's latest version first, in Casino Royale's teaser trailer.

Would a gameplay with Blood Stone and QoS games help in the movie promotion?

    Is that Arnold's? I didn't know.
It was a version made only for the trailers though, like the Parodi/Fair version for GE. I was talking about Newman's Bond theme version for the film itself (eg the end credits), which probably won't be ready when the trailers come out. But I guess you could be right, Newman could write a trailer version too.

Maybe for a Skyfall game, but probably not the film. It's probably a given that at least 84% to 88% of people that watch movies probably haven't played games centered around those movies.

Arnold doesn't score the trailers. The main composer of the movie rarely ever does the music for the trailers...

I do believe that the trailer version of the Bond theme was composed by Arnold, and I think it was originally composed for TND (or at least a similar one, as I heard it on a CD with all the main themes).

Not the music but the Bond theme was done by Arnold and then used in the trailer.

Either way, I expect a new version the feature in Skyfall's teaser.

Actually no, it's the Pfeifer Broz. Music company that made the trailer music, including the Bond theme featured in them.

    Easy. Geocoaching.

Hide 50 items around London mentioned in Bond books and films - first 50 to finish win a ticket to the premier.

This can be copied for all the major premiers around the world with regional changes.

Rationale - GPS ties in with the alleged PTS Sat hunt. It can be branded to introduce the new Q to the world as it is a free app d/l from Q's department from the Skyfall webshite. It involves smartphones - no doubt DC will be using a Sony smartphone maybe the Xperia X10? And it's a mission.

    What's not to like?

I don't know if that would work. With the Geocaches only in London it isn't upon to EVERYONE. But, a very cool idea nonetheless.

We know M will use a Sony Vaio laptop in SKYFALL.
It would be pretty cool if they'll release M's wallpaper officially on 007.com, or even a viral fake MI6 site.
Back in 2006 everyone was looking for M's wallpaper from Casino Royale. I'm still using it on my laptop, it's damn cool.

I want to see Corgi cars on the shelves again. Maybe some collectable figurines similar to the Gilbert figures from the '60s.

If Corgi sit this year out, please don't tell me there'll be nothing from them until the 60th anniversary.

Samuel i have to say Corgi are a massive disappointment for there lack of effort in producing something new and special for one of there best licenses that they have. With a wealth of Bond content to choose from? As far as we all know? They are doing nothing but repackaging old models with the 50th anniversary logo and thats about it?

A real pity and HUGE missed opportunity unless they announce something very soon? But sadly i cannot see it? I am hoping for some more figure releases from Sideshow Collectibles this year!

I still say this is one of the best Skyfall fan posters I've seen. It proves that when it comes to design, less is more. I don't suppose EON will take it into account after the mischief @marketto got up to ;)
