    Goodnews for Dutch people. The Dutch public channel NPO wil start with this tv series. Not somewhere late in the evening as Madmen, but on NPO1 around 20:30. Friday 24 February 2017, 03, 10, 17, 24 and 31 March 2017.

    The series is between two programs with sometimes two million views.

    And if you are in Belgium and also can watch npo channel, then of course this is goodnews for you too. Friday 24 February 2017 at 08.30 pm NPO1.

    I'm just re-watching this excellent mini series. I'm convinced now, more than ever that Tom Hiddleston would make a superb Bond. 36 years old, 6'2" very good actor.
    Rather than continue on the troubled, muscly Bond that we have with Daniel Craig. A Bond that I do like. However I'm not so keen on the emotional stories that the Craig films have given us. But I digress. I think a Tom Hiddleston Bond could bring a new interpretation to the character. Johnathan Pine is a strong yet cautious character. He shows genuine and understandable emotion. Be it the loss of a loved one, or rage and unpredictability. Bond, Pine is not. However Hiddleston does display enough range and skill to convince me that he could be Bond.
    A potential Bond that could work in a slightly different style to the more recent movies. More down to earth. Less action, more character and story driven. The Night Manager is a good example of what could be achieved by EON if they wanted to make a tense thriller on a lower budget.
    It doesn't have to be mind blowing stunts, megalomaniac villains, and huge explosions to be exciting and gripping.

    Again, if you haven't watched The Night Manager, give it a go. I'd be surprised if many here didn't thoroughly enjoy it.

    I loved it and i'm amazed I haven't bought it yet.
    It was Hiddleston's performance in that ,that had 'Bond' screaming at me from the screen.

    As you say Benster,his age,height is perfect for it,and he is a brilliant character actor in the same category as Fiennes or Irons...


    I like the look of him in the trailers for the new King Kong film,where he is an ex SAS officer ,he looks beefed up a bit and world-weary.

    Episode 1 in Egypt did it for me. His authoritative walk, silky smooth voice & subtle expressions in a variety of moments were all refreshing to see.

    I had high expectations before watching it because I had seen enough potential elsewhere, but that first episode convinced me without a doubt that this man could give us a Bond for the ages.

    His height is the icing on the cake.

    The Night Manager is a great production to have on your CV if you are looking to play Bond.

    They want to make a second series but no idea when though.
    All the Susanne Bier and Hiddleston advocates for Bond will be saddened I presume. Considering that this will keep the duo busy for a while.

    I guess I'm the only one around who wasn't thrilled with The Night Manager?

    *spoilers*

    Hiddleston and Laurie lead a great cast (Olivia Colman actually impressed me the most) but I found the plot a bit on the contrived side. All of the romance felt forced, built on absolutely nothing, and I didn't see why on Earth Laurie's character would have taken Hiddleston's character into his crew with such immediate trust as he did. Nothing felt organic about the progression of events - we as the audience were simply supposed to go along with everything just because. It was fun overall - but I thought it was far from great.

    Hiddleston also doesn't strike me as a good candidate for Bond. He's a good actor but has never struck me as being particularly Bond-esque. He's perfect as Loki. Can't we learn from Connery, Dalton and Craig that the best candidates for James Bond are largely under the radar prior to taking the role?

    True. But just give it an actor who isn't vertically challenged. I'm sure Warwick Davis could be CGI'd to 6 foot, but it remains pointless. Red carpet and marketing is still important to the franchise......so a short Tom Hardy isn't viable.

    As I viewed TLD last night, I found it refreshing to see a Bond actor who is taller than most of his supporting cast and can appear this way on screen with them without screen trickery. So no Hardy for me please.

    So far we get 3 episodes with 1,2 million views for first wo and 1,1 for 3th episode.

    My rank so far:

    Episode 3. Feels like Licence to kill/TLD and mabey a bit FYEO. Cinematopgraphy is finaly in balance. Les politic more story and more humor.
    Episode 1. Feels more like Casino Royale with DAD and Homeland/24. Cinematopgrahy get me out of it when English scenes are coming.
    Episode 2. Skyfall with sometimes a bit QOS. The Cinematopraphy is stil not that great. More politic then first already be. Rememberd that you watching tv series. The moost dificult episode from the three.

    With knowing we get 6 episodes, i hope we get more about the villian. I like it stil be a bit of mystery. See Mi6 bulding back is bit of proud and confusing same time. Difrent inside and difrent name. Same count a bit for Tobey Menzies (Moost fames face together with guy from House), growing since Casino Royale and it be shame to see him in this. Be rememberd what shame it be he don't return in QOS.

    That making a second season is one thing, but i hoped it was ending story and if there making another one it going to be named The Night Manager 2. So that speak about 2 six hour movies.

    With the 4th episide everthing go very fast, mabey to fast. Again to politic (Skyfall) and a bit more violence (more like QOS this time). The 5th episode have great end, but like i said with previous episode things go fast. This made the fifth episide more confusing and worried about the final episode. Episode 6: A bit of rushed feeling last 20 minutes. Confusing ending and not sjure or like that. Like i said before, i expected a closing end. Reconfirmd that there taking a good look to Dalton Bond.

    Episode 3, 1, 5-6, 4, 2

    The 3th episode get 8/10 (8.5)
    The first epiode 7/10 (6.5)
    The 5/6th episode 7/10 (6.5)
    The 4th episode 6.5/10 (7.0)
    The 2nd episode 6/10

    7/10 overall.

    Great thing is that take time to give chacters some time. Whyle there are stil quistions, also about first episode. Hiddleston chacter is stil a mystery on some way, whyle i must say later on he losing a bit what made him more intresting in the beginning. From the other side things go to fast and closer to end be to predictible. Humor overall i like,some must learn to like. Dislike politic parts inspecialy with second episode. Like what there did with on the level of TLD feeling of middle east chacters/actors with first and 6th episode. Very refreshing not see any 24/Die Hard or Homeland elements with exeption of first episode and no Astin Martin.

    Episode 4&5 did a bit les then million and funny enough the last episode did 1 million and 007.000 views. Overall very stable with starting with 1,2 million views. First episode watched with delay of 15 minutes and episode 2, 3, 4 and 6 with maximum 50-70 minutes. The 5th episode i watched 3 days later, so between the 4th and 5th episode 10 days and between the 5th and 6th only 4 days. I watched together with my mother.

    I agree. I thought the first episode was killer because everything was quite mysterious and Pine's character was quite an enigma. As time progressed, some of that was indeed lost. Still a great show though!

    Love that show! I have it on br, watched it several times already, and will undoubtedly watch it again. It´s made in such a seemingly simple manner, with loads of beautiful frames that I could enjoy even without any story. I love the way the characters are presented and how the actors act. I´m totally drawn in just by watching the characters talking to each other.

    UPDATE: No i cant download it...SKY & BBC dont get on....SKY & ITV get on very very well and share programs....bloody BBC as usual.twats.

    I recently bought the DVD and liked it a lot, though I found some spots a little "light" and slow. But I thought Hiddleston was great! It's the only thing I've seen him in so far, except for the Thor movies. About Hiddleston as Bond, on the one hand, I don't quite get how his supposed smugness and time with Taylor Swift rules him out of contention, and he didn't seem smug to me in The Night Manager (why should how he might be in real life matter much?). On the other hand, while I think he definitely has some Bond qualities, I think the character requires someone darker (and I don't mean just hair color), with more emotional or physical heft, and a deeper voice, and I think there are probably better candidates out there, if and when DC steps aside.

    Noticed Night Manager Is now on Amazon Prime in the UK, I'll give the mini series a go.

    Is there going to be a season 2 of this show? Last I heard they were in the early stages of figuring it out. I certainly hope so, because it was excellent stuff. I was reminded of LTK during many stages of it.

    I thought he was a very good blend of Craig intensity with Connery/Moore ease & composure. Taller and looks good in a suit too. The only thing that bothers me about him is his off camera antics. In play, he's tremendous.
