Who's Going To See Bond in 4K in the Cinema?

Just booked my tickets for the first double-feature, Dr No and Goldfinger at 4k at the Vue Cinema, Plymouth. Anyone else excited about see old Bond on the big screen?
(ps although this is touted as The Best of Bond there's no FRWL or OHMSS).

    They're all a little way off yet but I'm really up for seeing some top Bond films in their glorious enhanced quality on a big screen - especially RM and TD!

    See the Best of Bond back on the big screen at Vue digitally remastered in Sony 4K with exclusive Double Bills of James Bond classics. 10 films covering 5 Bonds over 5 nights from Dr. No to Skyfall.

    Sunday 14th June – Sean Connery – Dr. No & Goldfinger
    Sunday 21st June – Roger Moore – Live and Let Die & The Spy Who Loved Me
    Sunday 28th June – Timothy Dalton – The Living Daylights & License to Kill
    Sunday 5th July – Pierce Brosnan – Goldeneye & The World is Not Enough
    Sunday 12th July – Daniel Craig – Casino Royale & Skyfall

    Hi
    Sadly for me I won't living in Aberdeen the Vue cinema in their infinite wisdom believe it would not be popular enough to warrant a screening at Aberdeen.
    Despite having lengthy discussions with head office and the manager of the cinema, they are firm in their decision in not showing.
    This is a plea from a massive bond fan could you all spend five or ten mins and send an email to customer services asking them to change their mind.
    I have sent numerous emails.

    Your plea is better directed to Bond fans in your part of the world:as those here who feel for your vain pleas aren't going to make bookings in Aberdeen.

    I know people are not going to make bookings but every email may influence a decision, if some one else in the country made a similar suggestion I would be the first to send an email.
    I thought bond fans stuck together, clearly not !!!!

    A vain attempt to me means not in vanity but in the context of your persistent attempts to have the films shown being rebuffed and unfortunately unsuccessful - maybe valiant would be better then?

    I prefer valiant would be nice though that fellow bond fans fortunate to have a cinema showing the films put a good word in for those who don't.

    Totally agree but a 1000+ posts of support for your requests to Vue cinemas isn't going to fill a few hundred seats in Aberdeen for their accountants to see a return.

    Unfortunately profit drives their business not just providing public entertainment. For the showings to work you do need to find fellow fans like you in Aberdeen prepared to spend the £ and you'll be onto something.

    I'm going to a couple of the Leeds or York showings. Thanks for the prompt. Born in the 80's I never got to see many of the films on the big screen, so this is great.

    This is a plea to all james bonds in Aberdeen, Can you please email vue cinema in Aberdeen and ask them to show the bond films event. However if there are fans in uk who would find it in their heart to back my campaign to get bond on screen in Aberdeen that would be appreciated.
    I know there is nothing to be gained for bond fans not living in Aberdeen but as a sign of solidarty for Aberdeen bond fans it would be greatly appreciated despite what people may think.

    I emailed Vue and asked about a season ticket for all of them. Alas they aren't doing one.

    What a shame, @Mallory, that sounds like a good idea. Can't believe they wouldn't want to sell tickets to all showings - madness!

    I am glad some people are able to see these films on the big screen, disappointed however that no one has taken five minutes out of their day to email vue cinemas to push for Aberdeen showings, I thought bond fans stick together, guess I was misguided !!!

    The closer we get, the more excited I become. I have not been this excited for Bond in a loooong time.

    I've seen DN, GF, TB, YOLT, OHMSS and DAF in cinema with the full 4k big screen treatment.
    The experience was incredible.
    I missed the Tiff FRWL showing unfortunately.
    I'd really like to see the 9 Rog and Dalts films in the full 4k display.
    There is no comparison with the grainier prints that get trotted out for the 1973-1989 films, at festivals etc.
    I"m not sure the 1995 films forward need the treatment, but the treatment sure make the older films look even better than new.

    Two weeks today this kicks off with Connery. If it was a Dr No / From Russia With Love double, i'd go to see that one.

    Evergreen Status @Lancaster007. Clearly DN and GF have more evergreen value than OHMSS and FRWL, the latter two being much better films.

    I could see something similar happen with CR and SF. In which CR is slightly better, but where SF gets more evergreen value.

    While not in 4k, Goldfinger is playing at my local theater tomorrow. I'm definitely not gonna miss the chance to see it on the big screen.

    Just back from my local Vue.... Dr No and Goldfinger have never looked better. There are some slight 'soft' shots when there's rear projection or overlaid graphics (the GF Laser scene) otherwise its excellent.

    I thought they both looked terrific. They are broadly similar to the Blu Rays, but being 4k you can see a little more detail in clothing, mistimed dubbing, Connery's toupee in Goldfinger has never looked more obvious, plus how yellow the whites of Quarrel's eyes are..the actor, of course, died of cirrhosis a couple of years later - and you can see here he already had issues. The sound mixes are nothing special, but given they were mono to begin with, a decent job has been done.

    Strangest detail - a really poor audio edit to try to cover Bernard Lee saying "MI7" in Dr No.

    Overall, beautiful looking films.
