Most of us have probably had our style influenced by our favorite film franchise. Mostly by Bond, some by the Bond girls, and perhaps the more individualist among us by the villains (I know I wanted a tiny cigar and an eye-patch after TB ;)

Here's a thread to discuss all that, as well as submit examples of our style.

I'll start by posting a couple pictures:
This is something I wore today to brunch, partially inspired by watching the Shanghai bar scene in Skyfall. The tie looks a bit kilter with the close-up.



These are a pair of Italian suede boots I found at an upscale thrift store for a steal. I tried to find the brand out of curiosity but couldn't find anything similar online.

I don't copy Bond's stylistic details, but I do live by his stylistic ethos, which is: when in question, dress up rather than down. Western society has become far too casual and slovenly, and Bond is a corrective to this aesthetic laziness and childishness.

Ah. Forgot to mention. During cool/cold weather I wear a dark gray fedora, much like Seannery wore in the first three films. During warm/hot weather, it's a Panama. I'd love to see Craig break one or both of these out in SP.

One of the things I've appreciated about Craig's Bond is that he dresses more appropriately for the situation. He's always stylish, but he has more than suits in his wardrobe. It's a much easier style to get inspiration from. It was becoming a joke with Pierce how he worn suits virtually the entire time regardless of the circumstance. Roger did too but for all I know that was de rigour in the 70s and 80s.

Oddly enough, I was inspired by Trevelyan in the Goldeneye Reloaded PTS for my winter attire - which includes black peacoat, black knit hat with brim, black scarf, and black fingerless knit gloves.

Does anyone else hate tassel loafers? I'm moving somewhere that it's de rigueur to remove your shoes when entering someone's house, so I've been looking into getting some new loafers. There was a pretty nice pair at a upscale thrift store (you scoff, but I found a pair of black Church's 10 years ago that I still wear at one) but they had tassels. I can't for the life of me see any point to them, and I think they look damn effeminate.

ick - tassel loafers... you might as well put a big red bow and little bells on your shoes.... i would stick to wearing socks before wearing tassel loafers.

Loafers are great. But tassels are purely a personal stylistic choice. I don't think there's anything wrong with 'em.

You can buy very good, well made, business shoes that are loafer style with the silly little tassel ... and yet that is acceptable. Simply because it is a traditional, longstanding style, I guess. I know some businessmen in America who wear those. Can't say it is my favorite look, though. But not really so noticeable as you may think. In Asia, no problem I think. I have noticed that some business men wear very pointy toed shoes, though. Got to be uncomfortable.

Pretty traditional, the only thing bold about them is the color. The light color makes them a bit less formal, but I'm not planning on wearing them with suits anyway.

My new question is what a gentleman is to wear on top in tropical/sub-tropical climes. Basically anything long-sleeved is out of the question for all but the most formal occasions and the brief winters. Craig has worn some short sleeved sport shirts and polos to good effect, but if it's possible I'd like to move a step above the sunspel polos in formality.

@bondjames and @Villiers53 I'd certainly be grateful for your input, especially if you have any examples.

In about half a month I'll be turning the same age Connery was in Dr. No, so to celebrate I'll be going out on the town in in as much Bond attire as I'm able (without going quite so far as the Tux....) and the martinis will flow like a river I'm sure!

It's usually hot as hell around here. I picked up a couple of Uniqlo dryfit polos. They're not nearly as stylish as sunspel, but a helluva lot better than the t-shirts with bizarre or just incorrect English writing that Chinese are so fond of. Plus they're fantastically cool and fit pretty well. I'll try to take a picture.

Nice thread idea. I was thinking of starting a style thread somewhere. I'd say a lot of my wardrobe is very similar to Craig's Bond/Steve McQueen Inspired so I figure I'd post some of my staple outfits in here. I'm too lazy to take pictures of myself in these right now so I may post some later on. I attached quite a few photos of things in my wardrobe for those who may want to get some ideas for a somewhat Craig-Bondian wardrobe, so I'll spoiler tag the rest of it.

It's pretty warm around here so my summer staple is a Ralph Lauren custom fit polo and jeans or chinos. I've got six of them in ranging in different shades of black/grey and navy blue.

As far as pants go, I never really wear shorts but I pair the polos with some Club Monaco chinos, 7 For All Mankind Slimmy jean, or Banana Republic slim fit jeans.

My go-to spring/summer lightweight jacket is the Baracuta G4 in Dark Navy (which is the inspiration for Tom Ford's Bolivia QoS jacket)

For jackets in the winter time, I wear a black double breasted Guess peacoat with black leather gloves. I can't find a picture of my exact one but it's literally identical to the Billy Reid Skyfall peacoat minus the leather under the collar.


For my formal/workwear I wear the SuitSupply Napoli and Sienna Suits, I have four Napolis (two blue, two grey) and two Siennas (one blue, one grey) that I pair with some brown wingtip oxfords from Aldo

I consider fragrances to be a part of the wardrobe as well, so in the cooler months I wear Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille (which is tobacco, vanilla, and spices like clove, and cinnamon) and Tom Ford Tuscan Leather (notes of leather, suede, raspberry, saffron and woods). Spring/Summer I usually wear Creed Aventus (pineapple, birch wood, blaccurant, and bergamot) or Creed Millesime Imperial (citrus, melon, and sea notes).

I've been thinking lately I need to start "dressing my age," I'm 62 but you'll usually find me in a teeshirt and jeans. And while it's not exactly "MI6" this is the look I'm aiming for:
