"CARTE BLANCHE has "gone to" EON" -Deaver
  • "Jack Riccardi interviewed Bond author Jeffery Deaver on KTSA today. It's clear Riccardi is a Bond fan and this is a good interview.

    A few points to note; Deaver again says he's open to writing another Bond novel should IFP want him back. He also says Carte Blanche has "gone to" Eon (the Bond film producers), and sounds optimistic about its chances of being made into a film (but so was Sebastian Faulks)."

    I quite enjoyed Carte Blanche, but it's not really Bond film material.

    Gone to Eon means either they consider it for a film, or they want the rights so they can bury it deep. Probably they aquire as many rights as possible anyhow, even if just to make sure noone else will at some point in the future be able to make competitive films.

    Good news. That means Devil May Care as well as that novel will never see the light of day on film.

    @boldfinger

    i think it's more than likely the latter on that one...

    they haven't adapted anything from the continuation novels (why i don't know - there has to be some good stuff they could use).. so i think this is just to secure the rights, so that no one else can film a James Bond movie, using Carte Blanche as it's source material.

    I think the whole idea of controlling food as a weapon is a good idea that could definately be used in a movie
