Now that he had given up politics and Caroline Kennedy has dumped his sorry ass, what do you think of his movies?
I always thought that Predator was his best film. The action, dialogue, the characters in that movie. A real macho film.
Total Recall a close second despite the over the top violence, a good story. The Terminator is very good too and is where he finally found his niche.
I was never that fond of T2 Judgement Day, I liked him better as the heartless killing machine from the first Terminator.
I would say that Red Sonya along with the Conan films are pretty bad.

the ugly: him banging his Colombian housekeeper.
FYI, my fellow Yanks... The 1978 action/adventure film THE WILD GEESE -- starring Roger Moore -- is getting a two-disc Blu-ray/DVD "combo pack" release in North America on December 11, 2012. (I believe it has been available on Blu in Europe for awhile now.)

Got a chance to screen the set a few weeks in advance of release and it looks and sounds great. The only previous Region 1 DVD release wasn't even anamorphic.

A thoroughly "old school" action pic that still holds up very well, the film certainly has its share of Bond connections, which I'm sure have been discussed in other threads here. (If only that godawful theme song could be replaced!)

While watching the film again for the first time in many a moon, I noted that Roger Moore could play a genuine "tough guy"... or at least a tougher guy than his Bond was. I actually like him better as mercenary Shawn Fynn than 007.

In 2007, a film adaptation of Hitman was released, which itself was an insult to the video game franchise. Having Timothy Oliphant in the role was definitely wrong. Nobody can play Agent 47 other than Agent 47 himself, which is also known as David Bateson. I'd suggest that they should start making the right decisions, because, at first, it wouldn't be "hitman" without Mr. Bateson who was the inspiration for the character of Agent 47.

What film(either viewing at home or in the theatre) has just emotionally wrought you? You know what I mean. The moment comes, you try to fight back the emotion, but fail. You've got tears collecting, you're sobbing, the tears are now rolling all down your face. Was it a sad moment in the film, or did you relate to it? Why did you react so strongly to the moment on the screen?

Mine is without a doubt, Toy Story 3. The Toy Story films are so dear to my heart. The first film I ever saw was the first Toy Story when I was but a wee laddie. I had Woody and Buzz toys growing up that always entertained me, and the characters became real to me, like family. We had great times, Woody, Buzz, and I. As I grew up I waited for another Toy Story film, but nothing ever came. Fast forward to 2010 and we get Toy Story 3. At this time in my life, like Andy, I am nearing the time where I will be leaving the familiar and going off to college. The film isn't just an animated adventure, it spoke to me like no other animated film did before. We see through Andy that toys aren't just toys. They are memories we will always cherish and hold on to. No matter what I do, that ending gets me every time, from the moment Andy picks up Woody to the last shot of the clouds that started it all(it was in the theatre too)...Thank you Woody, thank you Buzz.

So, what is your most emotional movie viewing experience?
Hi, I'm new to the community and James Bond in general, but love it all already. Here are a few questions...

My understanding of the 007 Movie History is that: From Sean Connery (Dr. No) to Pierce Brosnan (Die Another Day) has been roughly in chrinological order, while Daniel Craig's Bond films are prequals (Casino Royale ~ Skyfall). Is this correct?

Since Judi Dench is M in the Brosnan series and Craig series, does this create some sort of time warp, where she is M in the past (Craig) and future (Brosnan)?

Therefore, the history of M would be Judi Dench (name?) -> Ralph Fiennes (Gareth Mallory) -> Bernard Lee (Miles Messervy) -> Robert Brown (Admiral Hargreaves - No M Sirname?) -> Judi Dench again?

Thank you!!!
007 fan Pihcho

For those who haven't heard of/read any of 'The Secret Service' - it's a Mark Millar/Dave Gibbons comic book that borrows heavily (some might say wholesale) from Bond lore. To give an example the opening scene is a rip-off of TSWLM intro, albeit with a twist and a very funny twist at that. It concerns a Bond-esque character who recruits his down and out nephew to join the service. His nephew is a street kid who lives in Peckham (from memory) with a mother, his siblings and her abusive partner. It's typical Millar fare that was co-created with Matthew Vaughn, whom it now looks likely will direct it.

Now, I raise the question for a few reasons.

1. The comic is so heavily influenced by Bond that huge comparisons can be drawn, particularly visually.
2. It has the ability to undermine Bond as it is not an out and out p*ss take ala Powers - despite it having Moore-esque outrageousness.
3. Vaughn is down to direct - a name that has cropped up numerous times re.Bond. He'll add a certain weight to the style of this film, think 21st century Roger Moore Bond.

While all this is theoretical I just wondered what other opinions people have. Both those who have and haven't read it. Does it really have the potential to carve into the Bondiverse? Will all the Craig haters come out of the shadows with the promise of a Spy film involving amphibious vehicles and epic villains lairs?

Here's a brief article outlining why Vaughn quit X-Men to do The Secret Service....

http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/JoshWildingNewsAndReviews/news/?a=69757

It reminded me a lot of a cross between Star Wars, Moonraker, and Die Hard all wrapped up in one amazing, epic movie. The character Snow reminded me of a cross between James Bond and John McClane, which I really liked, especially the former! The action was really good, I was on the edge of my seat practically the entire time! Has anyone else seen this yet and liked it?
